Elizabeth M. Gemski
Ms. Gemski has over 15 years of experience in Federal and State Government Affairs working in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. She brings to Murtha her knowledge of direct lobbying, policy and legislative analysis, media analysis, as well as coalition and partner development for health, human service, energy, and environmental clients. Ms. Gemski works with clients to develop and achieve their public policy goals including passing legislation, obtaining funding for programs, and developing a supportive grassroots strategy to educate lawmakers. She is also skilled in public affairs working with clients to inform and educate the media and the public on a policy issue to support legislative strategy.
Previously, Ms. Gemski was State Vice President of Health and Advocacy Initiatives for the American Cancer Society in Rhode Island where she was responsible for state-level planning, implementation and evaluation of health initiatives, as well as government affairs programs. She ensured the delivery of programs through systems including health insurers, employers, and key state agencies. Ms. Gemski served as the lead lobbyist, developing relationships with State and Federal elected and appointed officials, partner organizations, the media, and influential constituents.
Early in her career, Ms. Gemski was the Finance Director for the Campaign to Elect Matt Brown Secretary of State where she set a record for funds raised in a successful primary challenging an incumbent. She was also the Finance Assistant for Jack Reed for U.S. Senate where she assisted raising $1.1 million from in-state individual donor program and developed and executed “Get Out The Vote” efforts for the state party and for the campaign.
Ms. Gemski received her B.A. from Clark University and interned at the Office of Greville Janner, Queen’s Court, Member of Parliament in London, England.
